2.5 Day Workshop
OBSERVATION is the key word used to describe this two part workshop. Over two and a half days students will first learn to “Observe” the shapes, sizes, values, colors and design that go into making a successful painting. The first day and half will be spent teaching students to “see” not copy! Only after we train our eyes to first observe a scene, pick out the pertinent shapes, arrange them into a pleasing design, then paint them in the appropriate values and colors does a painting gain authenticity.
The second goal of this workshop is to arm students with a dependable painting “PROCESS”. Knowing how to start a painting and follow a dependable, repeatable process is a foundational learning experience that will lead to a less worrisome or cumbersome process to painting. The process Rusty teaches works in any painting situation regardless of subject matter…i.e. landscape, still life, equestrian, pet portraiture or portraiture. Likewise, all levels of painters will benefit from Rusty's guidance.
Weather permitting, this will be a mostly plein air workshop. If the weather dictates otherwise we will work in the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center, which is where we will start first thing Sunday morning.
